The golf is not expensive but it is not cheap either - to really appreciate the value for money you have to factor in the beautiful scenerery and beautifully kept courses and greens. If the golf is not cheap the overal cost of the holiday is balanced by the cheap flights. Tenerife holidays for all these folk are made possible by the cheap flights. Generally flights to Tenerife are from Gatwick.

They are generally fairly easy to obtain as there is massive competition between both scheduled and charter operators. Departures are generally on Tuesdays and Fridays with some airports, particularly Gatwick, having upwards of 30 departures on each of these days.

There was a time when departures were only on Tuesdays and Fridays but this has changed with the increasing numbers from regional United Kingdom airports.

The development of regional airports has been one of the most interesting aspects of the UK leisure industry. Whilst many people were surprise to see the development of such airports as Hern (Bournemouth) and Southampton the real excitement is still to come. There is talk of development of the airport at Redhill only a few miles from Gatwick to massively expand the capacity serving London and the South East.

The airport in the south of the island is called Reina Sofia and for those who have not been recently it is quite a surprise. The last few years have seen the airport expanding at an amazing rate. The airport is clean, efficient and happily air-conditioned and its status has been raised by its being included as a destination for many scheduled airline operators including British Airways and Iberia.

We have been travelling to the island for many years and one the things that we remember very well is how difficult it used to be to rent a reliable car whatever the price that you were willing and able to pay. Now you can pick up your rental car directly from the airport and there are a number of car rental booths in the arrival of hall of Reina Sofia. It is not however good to leave booking a car until you arrive on the island - it is likely that you will find yourself paying both an extortionate price and having very little in the way of choice of a vehicle.
