Holidays
It is not hard to define what makes good family
holidays yet somehow the experience seems to elude most
of us for at least some of the time. I conducted an informal
survey of what most British people defined as being good family
holidays. The
people that I spoke to were all talking about self-catering
family holidays and this is what almost everyone said to me:
Good weather
Good food
Nice Accommodation
Clean Accommodation
Reasonably Low Cost
Plenty of Things to Do
Enough Space so that people do not get each
other’s
feet
Good kitchen
Adequate bathrooms and hot water
Safe area
Good swimming pools
It all made good sense
to us for self catering family holidays. We wanted to provide
great family holidays. The foundation of our solution was Tenerife
Holidays. So what we did was to purchase a really large apartment
on a golf course in the south of Tenerife – ideal for
family holidays. Tenerife took care of the good weather and
food in Tenerife is now excellent for those who prefer self-catering
family holidays. The apartments were completed to a very high
standard in 2001 and 2002 so it is really is nice accommodation
for a family holiday. We purchased good quality furniture (leather
sofas and glass topped wrought iron Spanish style tables with
matching chairs). We added satellite TV and a video. So far
so good we thought, ideal for family holidays in Tenerife.
These self catering holidays
apartments have a huge balcony facing the sea and the golf
course so we purchased a table and chairs so that everyone
could have breakfast and lunch outside and perhaps some evening
meals. Then we thought again – this we said is for family holidays so the apartment
has got to be equipped for a family. Plenty of pots and pans,
crockery, glasses and cutlery – that part was easy. Then
we thought about some of our experiences of self-catering family
holidays – sometimes there was a bit too much hard work
to be done. So we bought a dishwasher. Then we thought about
clothes. We hoped that many of our guests would want to stay
for two weeks so we purchased a washing machine with a dryer.
This way our guests did not have to bring huge suitcases but
could still have clean clothes.
Tenerife apartments excellent
for family holidays but then we thought about what all of the
family would want to do. Tenerife has plenty of attractions
including water, dolphin and parrot parks. Then there is the
allegedly extinct volcano, Mount Teide, the father of the island.
Car hire in Tenerife is remarkably inexpensive (£100
per week) and petrol is about a third of the cost that it is
in Tenerife. Tenerife apartments are ideal if you want to play
golf - our apartment is located on the excellent Golf del Sur
course where you will receive a 10% discount on your green
fees.
The apartment is ideal for family holidays with
two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A very few minutes away is an
excellent supermarket with an excellent array of fresh and cooked
meat, fish, vegetable and very cheap wine and beer. Good food
is in our view the foundation of a good family holiday.
