Family Holidays

Family Holidays can be expensive at the best of times. The decision to travel abroad for Family Holidays invariably adds to the pleasure and fun of family holidays but invariably adds to the cost.

Thee are a number of ways of reducing the cost of family holidays abroad but the two most potent are electing for a self-catering holiday and choosing a reasonably exotic and warm location that nonetheless is one to which there are inexpensive flights.

If low cost is one of the attractions of self-catering family holidays, the main problem is when family holidays become hard work for one or members of the party.

The key to not making family holidays too much like hard work is to make sure that your accommodation is well-equipped with all of the latest labour saving devices including a dishwasher and a washing machine with built-in clothes dryer. It is also important to make sure that a really good supermarket is not too far away.

Family Holidays in Tenerife can exactly meet all of the above-mentioned conditions. Flights to Tenerife for family holidays are relatively short and invariably inexpensive all year round.

There was time when supermarkets in Tenerife were not ideal for self catering family holidays but all of this has changed in the last relatively few years. Now the supermarkets have a plentiful supply of fresh meat, vegetables, fruit and fish and most stock traditional British fayre including English bacon, breakfast cereals and so on.

One of the greatest attractions of family holidays in Tenerife is the incredibly low cost of living. The best cuts of beef for example are often as little as 25% of UK costs. The same applies to quality fish. The other joy is the cost of alcoholic drinks with good Rioja winces costing as little as £1.50 per bottle and spirits including quality London Dry Gins being as little as half of UK costs.

Talking again of cost, petrol prices on Tenerife are inexplicably low at around £1.50 per gallon. This would not be important were it not for the fact that you can hire a small air conditioned for as little as £100 per week. This makes it possible to see the whole island including the reputedly extinct volcano that is father of the island: Teide. The island is littered with theme parks including those featuring chimpanzees, dolphins and camel. There is also a very large Go Karting circuit. The car not only makes it possible to tour the island and make supermarket trips but also to get away from the coast and sample local food in the very inexpensive local restaurants.
