Tenerife Holidays. Tenerife has long been a popular holiday destination for the British. Attractions include excellent weather all year round, low cost golf on some of the most attractive golf courses in the world along with excellent food and drink at very low prices. It is fair to say that Tenerife can be all things to all people with distinct and very different areas to suit all tastes. Parents with young children are well catered for self catering holidays in Tenerife with a variety of theme parks including such attractions as Lama, Dolphin and Parrots. This it ideal for family holidays in Tenerife. Las Americas and Los Cristianos are twins joined at the hip. Frankly neither of them are for us but even this is not to say that Los Cristianos does not have excellent restaurants and a huge variety of shops. Those seeking quality fashion will not be disappointed by a day trip. Our clients tend to be those who are looking for a quiet week or two away from the British winter, a relaxing summer or family holiday or a golf break. A Tenerife Holiday can meet all these needs. Food for holidays in Tenerife There has of course always been good food on Tenerife but now it has become accessible. When we first came in 1987 you could always find marvellous fish and steak restaurants but you had to look! In recent years, the standard of the supermarkets has grown to be similar to those in the UK and rather like those that we British so admire in France - there is a picture to the right. When we stay in our apartment on Golf del Sur, we like to eat in for at least some of the time. Our kitchen is well-equipped and there is even a French cookery book. No need to worry about washing up, there is even a dishwasher. Our apartment at Ocean Golf and Country Club in Golf del Sur is very close to the delightful fishing village of Los Abrigos. In around half an hour you can walk along the coast or alternatively take the very short drive. Los Abrigos was clearly once exclusively a working fishing village but the arrival of tourists has seen in develop into the home of the best fish restaurants on the island. Some of the British who live on Tenerife think that Los Abrigos is expensive and it is certainly true that it is possible to eat out more cheaply. Even so, two fish courses and a bottle of wine will generally set a couple back no more that £12 per head. Our first Tenerife Holiday (holidays Tenerife) was in 1986 and we purchased our first property in 1989. At this time it was difficult to rent a car, the supermarkets were not nearly as good as they are now and many developments suffered from frequent interruptions of water and electricity. All of that has changed. We tend to book a car from the UK via Holiday Autos or Autos Abroad. Rental of a small air conditioned car such as a Citreon Saxo is from as little as £100 per week. |
